House Construction Planning – Who Should Handle It?

Hello,
We are now just about to submit the building permit / planning permission. Our architect wants to finalize the contracts for the design phase with the different engineers. The total cost is around CHF 30,000. The architect has chosen engineers he regularly works with. However, we have not yet received any alternative quotes.

Is this how it is usually handled in your experience?

hello,

getting multiple quotes is absolutely essential! I always do that, especially when it comes to materials I’m not familiar with. Without comparing prices, I can’t really imagine what might be realistic. Plus, building a house involves a lot of money. Other people I know usually get 3 to 4 quotes... it doesn’t cost anything!

Your site manager or architect can also handle this. We built with martyhaeuser and I can highly recommend them. However, you will find countless providers on the internet. You won’t have any trouble finding someone!

best regards

I wouldn’t immediately accept the ones the architect suggests either. It’s great that his friends earn well, but you’ll be annoyed if you end up paying much less somewhere else.

Definitely do not accept immediately. It’s better to spend some time checking offers from others! This always pays off. Just because the architect suggests certain people, it doesn’t mean they are the most affordable.

Well, in general, I don’t think it’s bad if the architect always works with the same team. At least then there is some kind of group dynamic. But if they absolutely refuse to collaborate with others, that is somewhat questionable...
