Hello,
we have built an insulated workshop. We only want to heat it with electricity when needed. The room is about 20 m² (215 sq ft) and 2.50 m (8.2 ft) high. My husband is considering an infrared heater. It is important that nothing can catch fire since there is a lot of wood dust in the workshop.

Does anyone have experience with the manufacturers or alternative ideas?

Well, I thought it had to do with efficiency.

When converting electricity directly into heat, the efficiency is 100%. It can’t be higher or lower (where else would the energy go if not into heat?).

To suggest a different approach... A wood stove could be an alternative. It heats up quickly and effectively. However, with your intended use involving an open fire, it is probably not a suitable option.

What about a split air conditioning system?

Oh, now here come the high-tech enthusiasts.
Kaho, just install some cheap oil-filled radiators or buy one or two wall-mounted panel heaters from Siemens. They aren’t expensive either. Whatever it costs, it costs.

Since when is that considered high tech? It can heat in winter and cool in summer with good efficiency. And it has been tested for decades.

Split sounds high-tech for simple-minded people like me.
