even though the investment in a ground source heat pump is higher (as far as I know, only the cost of the drilling is the additional expense), I would definitely recommend choosing a ground source heat pump if it is financially possible. It works really well—we have one ourselves—and this way, we are not dependent on gas prices and have low monthly heating costs. For 145 m² (1560 sq ft), including household electricity, controlled ventilation with heat recovery, heating, and hot water, we pay only about €110 per month. The house should definitely be a low-energy house, meaning it is well insulated.
You can also get a small subsidy from BAFA as part of the funding for efficient heating systems.
You would need to ask the companies for exact costs. For us, it was already included in the purchase price of the house as a standard feature.
I hope this helps.
Best regards

tastateur30 Mar 2010 14:03Hello Soundsurf,
May I ask what you mean by household electricity? Are you referring to the total electricity consumed monthly or only the electricity used for heating and domestic hot water?
Which supplier is your house from? I am interested because you mentioned that this heating system was included in the price.
Thank you in advance
Klaus

Soundsurf31 Mar 2010 08:02Hello tastateur,
by house electricity I mean all the power used inside the house, such as the washing machine, television, lighting, etc., as well as the electricity for the controlled ventilation system with heat recovery.
The heat pump, which is responsible for heating and hot water, is connected to a special tariff meter, since many energy providers offer a specific heat pump rate.
Currently, we pay a combined advance payment of 110 € per month.
