Hello,
we are laypersons and a bit confused. During the house planning, the builder told us that the foundation slab needs to cure or rest for about 1 month before work can continue. Now, after asking again about the schedule, there is no longer any mention of a pause for the foundation slab.
What is the common practice?

We were told it needs about 2 weeks to dry before anything can be built on it.
However, the screed requires 4 weeks to dry.Concrete takes 4 weeks to fully cure, but that doesn’t mean you can’t place something on it earlier. I think nothing will happen after 2 weeks, even if a prefab house is set on it by then. As for the screed, it depends on the type. Cement screed dries faster, while anhydrite screed can take up to 8 weeks. However, it can be walked on after just 3 days.
They talk a lot when the day is long... so that as a homeowner you don’t wonder why nothing happens for so many days and there is room for other construction projects in the schedule.
In our building area, the delivered bricks are placed on the foundation slab after about 3 days. Shortly after, the masons begin with the exterior walls.

I see, so it’s rather the screed that needs the break.Yep, probably just a misunderstanding on your side.
