Hello,

Last year, a landscaping company paved several areas and pathways in our garden. No sealing was applied to these surfaces. According to the company, this was "not necessary." We are now beginning to regret that...

This year, we have noticed grass and weeds growing through the joints in several places. Removing them with a joint scraper is almost impossible because the joints are very narrow, and the roots grow quite deep.

The fact is, something needs to be done. I have already considered some options like flame weeding and pressure washing. What are your experiences? What methods provide lasting results?

I am now thinking about thoroughly cleaning everything and then applying a joint sealant afterward. What type of material would you recommend for this?

Best regards

You can definitely expect the installation to be free of growth if this was explicitly addressed during the initial consultation.

That’s just nature. The seeds come from above 😉

I also believe that expecting a long-term weed-free environment is an unrealistic idea from urban living that goes against biology. It simply does not work without personal effort. Karsten

Not that protection from below is completely useless. However, in a previous project we had cobblestone paving with mortar-filled joints on the terrace, and even then vegetation was unavoidable, although relatively easy to remove. This comes from above, not from below.
