Hello everyone,

Now that spring is slowly arriving and our turf has been laid, I’m currently using an old hose with Gardena fittings and a Gardena square sprinkler from my parents. I’d like to get my own setup and preferably buy something reliable. Gardena is the first brand that comes to mind, but from what I’ve read online, the quality doesn’t seem as good as it used to be. The plastic sprinkler from my parents doesn’t make the best impression either. Ideally, I’d rather spend a bit more and have something that lasts for 10 years or more.

My online research hasn’t turned up much so far. Is there really only cheap discount stuff available, then maybe something a bit better from Gardena, and if you want something higher quality, you have to pay ten times as much?

Specifically, we need:
- 20m (65 feet) hose
- Suitable hose cart or hose reel (important: no wall mounting, because the house is rented)
- Spray nozzle
- Square sprinkler

Do you have any recommendations?

Best regards

Hose reel and hose, it’s not worth worrying about. Ours is from Penny and over 20 years old. So, what more could you want. The sprinkler is from Gardena. We once bought one at Netto, and it broke quickly. The Gardena has been working for three years now.

You should have installed irrigation under the turf before laying it down 😉

For a hose and sprinkler setup, I agree with @nordanney. Just get a Gardena and that’s fine. If it breaks after a few years, you can simply buy a new one.

Speaking of water, I have a buying tip. The device is called Worx Hydroshot, it weighs only two kg (4.4 lbs) and looks like a kind of lance with a battery attached. It’s a very handy cordless pressure washer. The great thing about it is that it works with a hose, but you can also attach a loose hose end (included) into a rain barrel, for example, and it will draw the water itself. You can then easily clean with it—washing your car, removing moss from patio slabs, cleaning a dirty bike—all of these it handles well. I’m really impressed with it. One battery charge lasts about 20 minutes. The battery and charger are included in the package. K.
