Hello everyone,

Our garage was originally planned to be built with brick walls (24cm (9.5 inches) thick). Now the general contractor suggests building the exterior wall facing the neighboring property (boundary construction!) with exposed fair-faced concrete instead of brick. According to him, this would eliminate the need to access the neighbor's property and also avoid the need to repaint the wall in a few years.

What do you think about this? Is it a reasonable solution or not? I’m a bit skeptical.

Exposed concrete quality is expensive.
Concrete should or must be treated with a water repellent or painted.
Are you already having issues with the neighbor?
I wouldn’t do it unless you really want exposed concrete.
