hello
I have a small drip on an exposed hot water pipe (1 inch) in the basement. I removed the insulation because it had been showing brown stains for some time. This spot is about 5cm (2 inches) away from a screwed 90-degree elbow.
My first question is: pipe repair clamp or cut open the pipe?
My second question is, if I replace a 20cm (8 inches) section of pipe, how can I reconnect the cut end? I will have the new threaded pipe section and the old cut threaded pipe, with about 2–3cm (1 inch) of space between them. What kind of flexible coupling solution is available for this?
Thank you very much for any practical advice

I have now ordered a Geberit sealing clamp. The leak is at a spot about the size of a 10-cent coin (approximately 20mm (0.8 inches)). It drips slightly in the middle, and the sealing clamp is the right solution for this. Basically, I already know what the inside of the pipes looks like. At my neighbor’s place—who bought a house from the same building year, 1963—the pipes were half blocked.
