We are currently working on the energy-efficient renovation of our house, including interior insulation, windows, and heating. We are heating with oil, which I would like to change. The heat loss will be significantly reduced, leading to a lower heating demand.

We are not yet sure which type of heating system to choose and feel a bit overwhelmed. We will probably consult an energy advisor and want to prepare for the discussion. Does anyone here have a heat pump in their house? How is it—are they noisy, and do they work reliably in the coldest winter months?

Hello Herti,
what you need to consider regarding lower heat demand and a new heating system is that the flow temperature will be quite low and may no longer be compatible with the existing radiators. If you don’t want to tear up all the floors to install underfloor heating or open walls for a wall panel heating system, you will need to think about new radiators.

I am also interested in heat pumps. Is there anyone in the forum with experience using them? You can read a lot about heat pumps on the internet, but nothing beats real-life experience. 🙄

Hello R2D2,

Heat pumps are among the most cost-effective heating systems and are also very environmentally friendly. They extract about 75% of their heating energy from renewable environmental sources. I am also considering between a pellet heating system and heat pumps for our house. 🙄

I can only say that our pellet heating system and heat pump work perfectly. We decided on this setup back then, and it was the right choice. We were able to reduce our energy costs by almost 70 percent.

That’s quite a good saving. I’m interested in the Sixmadun SMS-XP-6TU heat pump from Tobler. Has anyone here already had experience with it?
