Hello,
has anyone here installed Fastbo wall panels above their kitchen countertop and could share the best or most discreet way to mount them on the wall?
For example: any special type or size of screws,
are 4 screws per panel enough,
is it possible to arrange them so that the gaps or seams between individual panels are barely visible,
can they be cut nicely for corners without chipping or breaking unattractively?

Thanks for any experiences,
best regards, Elli

Hello Elli,

I was at Ikea last week and saw the Fastbo wall panels for the first time. In the store, they were attached at the top edge with a silver rail. I don’t remember the exact name of the rail, but it might have been Asker or Imperativ, one of those kitchen hanging rails. The rail created a clean and attractive finish at the top of the panels, and you couldn’t see any holes in the panels.

I’m also considering buying the wall panels, but I don’t like that they are only available in 60cm (24 inches) lengths. In the store, the joint between the panels didn’t look that bad because they fit together very precisely, but I still don’t think it’s ideal. Also, I would need to cut out an opening for an existing electrical outlet, which already seems a bit complicated to me.

Best regards

By now, I know that the metal rail is also called Fastbo, just like the wall panels, and was specifically designed to attach the panels. The rail is 120cm (47 inches) long, so two panels fit into it.

The correct molding from Fastbo costs about €10 and is 120 cm long (panels 60 x 50 cm, so enough for 2 pieces). It is attached at the top and bottom, and the panels are slid in. Of course, if you have a tiled backsplash, you can also attach the panels using double-sided tape.

Hello!

Can someone tell me what the panels look like from the side?
Is there a gap between the wall and the panels when using the rails?

We want to install the panels behind our stove, with the passage to the living room on the left side of the stove, so the panels will be visible from the side there. That means the side also needs to look good.
