How loud is your centralized mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery, measured in dB_A?
Specifically, the sound level in the living areas at a distance of one meter (about 3 feet) from the air outlets, measured at the normal daytime operating setting, based on the commissioning data of the system.
(There are smartphone apps that can measure this, but be sure they actually measure or display dB_A and not just dB.)
How loud is the system itself, measured in the technical room at a distance of one meter (about 3 feet) from the ventilation unit?
Which model do you have?

The unit itself in the basement is a bit noisy...
When it runs at full capacity and you sit under a vent in the living area, I can hardly hear anything...
I can measure the noise level in dBA when I get the chance...

Now they say that’s all normal Um, so that’s it now? End of story? What does the installer (or your contractor) say about it?
And do you know why your system is so loud? Is it due to the device itself and/or the installation?
Phew, this
does not sound good. I’m glad our ventilation specialist refused at the last minute to sell us the planned Helios system and convinced me to go with a Zehnder unit instead. He told me back then about exactly this noise issue—he had just taken back a Helios system and removed it from their product range.
This might not help you much, but these problems seem to occur frequently with Helios.
Best regards,
Andreas

We certainly would not recommend the Helios controlled ventilation system for living spaces; the ventilation is clearly audible at the normal setting in the rooms, and we find the noise unpleasant.

I have read several times about noise issues related to the combination of the summer bypass and pollen filter in certain Helios models. However, I have not heard of any general noise problems with Helios so far. But our system in the basement is already four times as loud (12 dB_A higher) as stated in the catalog.
