Hello,

we have now been living in our newly built house for six months, and the electricity and gas consumption is starting to stabilize, making it easier to estimate future usage.

After moving in, we initially ended up with the expensive default energy supplier tariff from eon-Avacon. Now, for the first time, I am seriously considering switching. My preliminary research shows that there is significant potential to save money.

Is it really as simple as the internet (well-known comparison websites, etc.) makes it seem?

I’m sure some of you switch providers regularly (annually?). What do you pay attention to when doing so? Does the transition go smoothly? And what are your thoughts on green energy tariffs?

The customer service at Vattenfall is also really good.

I also switch regularly, which is what happened to me last time. The provider sweetens their price with discounts and lowers the basic fee to an average level, but if you forget to cancel now, you end up paying a high price the following year.

They charged almost 400-500€ basic fee.

Yes, it is that simple. Besides comparison websites, there are also companies that connect manufacturers and customers – you purchase from a group of small producers who join together there. You can probably find offers under the keyword “regional electricity.”

I only consider green energy tariffs. It is very easy and not necessarily more expensive to contribute here, since you are not making a system change that would involve additional costs and adjustment.

You can make it easy for yourself by canceling right when you sign the contract. That way, you won’t forget.

Thank you for sharing your experiences. I will now start with Vattenfall and review it again in a year.

So, we don’t always have the cheapest option, but we always use the cheapest green electricity. And often without an annual contract. But even if there is a contract, you can cancel anyway if there is a price increase.
This has been working smoothly for us for years.
