Hello,

I am looking for a way to control a door (not a main entrance door) electrically.
It is important that the door can be opened and closed remotely (and that it stays open), without being physically present.
Either via an app or, for example, using a Shelly device, by switching the power on and off.

Otherwise, the door should function normally, either manually or automatically with a pulse (when opened by hand).

I just can’t seem to come up with any ideas. There are electric/automatic door openers, but I haven’t found a way to control them remotely.

Does anyone have an idea that I might have overlooked?

Best regards

Hello,

Are you referring to a door with an electric strike that you want to open remotely? That wouldn’t be a big issue.
Or do you mean a door or gate with a proper motorized drive that actually moves the door leaf or gate? That’s a major challenge when controlled remotely. How do you plan to ensure that no person, animal, or object is in the gate’s moving area? This raises significant safety concerns. In that case, you should budget around €5,000 to €10,000 (approximately $5,500 to $11,000) for sensors, light curtains, and similar safety equipment.

Best regards,
Andreas

The area is under video surveillance. I simply want to be able to open and close a door for ventilation without, for example, having to drive by twice a day. The door should still be usable as a normal door.

Currently, a standard Geze door closer is installed. There are also electric door closers/door operators, but they cannot be controlled remotely.

We had this at our company not too long ago – in the end, our building electrician came up with a homemade solution using a relatively simple electric actuator combined with a separately wired LTE module, since you can’t buy something like this prefabricated. So it always ends up being a DIY solution.

However, due to the security concerns mentioned above, this idea was ultimately abandoned.

Wouldn’t a core drill hole above the door with a fan be a simpler solution?
Do you want to ventilate only temporarily or continuously?

This is a rental property, so no solution is possible.
Only temporary.
