Hello,

I have a small problem and hope someone here can help me. We recently renovated the upper floor of our house.

About seven years ago, a company applied a textured plaster (scratch coat) on one wall. Now, I want to use the same type of textured plaster on the new wall. I went to a hardware store, but no one could tell me exactly which plaster was used back then. So, I simply bought a textured plaster (Krönung 2mm) from the store. However, when I applied it, I noticed that it looks completely different…

Now my question is:

Is this even textured plaster?
Does anyone know what type it might be?

I have attached two pictures of the existing plaster for reference.

Thank you very much!

Beige plaster wall with rough texture.

White wall with coarse, irregular plaster texture and small indentations.

On one hand, I only see one picture.. for that, the plaster would still need a scale to estimate the grain size.

On the other hand, the painting company wouldn’t have used plaster from a hardware store... I would suggest consulting a specialist company, including a photo with a scale.

Ypg is right, without a scale it’s difficult, but it looks like 2 and 3mm (0.08 and 0.12 inches) plaster.

Hello,

thank you for the responses.

I have now done some research online and found the following:

Four white wall textures in quadrants: coarse plaster, striped surface, smooth wall, rough plaster.

Plaster textures (from left): disc plaster, roughcast, fine plaster, and scratch plaster.

Looking at my photo, it seems they used disc plaster back then...
