Hello everyone,
we have a roughly 1000 sqm (approximately 10,764 sq ft) flat plot of land, and I’ve been thinking about creating a play hill.
During the current construction phase, we piled up the excavation soil from the house in a large mound right in the middle of the lot. It still needs to be spread out.
My idea now is to take some of that soil and shape a small hill in a corner or along the edge of the property for the children to play on. A small tree and grass on top would help prevent the soil from washing away.
Later, it could be used as a base for a waterfall – or flattened again.
What do you think? Has anyone had experience with this? About how big should it be?

It’s also not really practical when it comes to mowing and that sort of thing. Personally, I wouldn’t do it. I don’t think a golf course-type lawn would work there. It wouldn’t stay intact with children playing on it. I’d generally only mow it once or twice a year; the kids will trample the rest anyway.
