Hello everyone,

What were things during the construction phase that you would have been better off avoiding in hindsight?
For example, too much supervision, no time off, too many changes, no expert consultation, etc.

Looking forward to your experiences!

Thank you

How did you take your measurements? Which laser measuring device would you recommend?

We use the Bosch GLM 150 Professional. It’s an older model, but it works with millimeter accuracy.

Offering drinks at 35°C (95°F) in the summer is something you can definitely do.
However, we did not provide any food.

I agree with reading up on everything, especially when managing individual trades—it certainly doesn't hurt. This way, no one can just tell you nonsense.

We visited the site as often as possible with our child, checked everything carefully, and asked questions right away. However, we had a construction supervisor who had long-standing relationships with the relevant companies—all trades were carried out by top professionals—and without him, we wouldn’t have been able to secure those companies, as they had very busy schedules. That was actually our biggest advantage.

In hindsight, I would have liked to have an (independent) construction supervisor throughout the entire build process and also have the planning reviewed by an expert.
Absolutely right! And well spent money!

Any laser measure costing around 15-20€ (about 16-22 USD) is sufficient for checking measurements on site.

Any tips on where to find one, what to look for when choosing, and what realistic prices are?
Thanks
