Hello everyone,
We are planning to build a single-family house of about 140 sqm (1507 sq ft) without a basement on a plot south of Ingolstadt. We are currently looking for suitable construction companies that build solid structures. Unfortunately, we have no experience in this area and rely on your help to separate the wheat from the chaff.
So far, we have the following companies on our short list that we might contact:
- Isar Haus from Munich
- Town & Country (partner is Feiner Hausbau GmbH)
- Wand Massivhaus
- MVS Ziegelbau
- Heinz von Heiden
- Lechner Massivhaus (the company builds with klimaPOR, not sure what to think of that)
Could you maybe tell me if these companies are recommended and whether they tend to build in a higher price range or rather offer standard options?
Do you have any tips on other companies worth recommending in the region? Thanks in advance!

We also visited Lechner Massivhaus. Unfortunately, we didn’t even receive a quote after our appointment. However, their base price was clearly higher than the offers from typical brick-and-mortar builders.
We are now building with KMH. The planning was very professional, and the price also fit our budget. Many acquaintances in our region are building with KMH, and so far, I haven’t heard anything negative.
P.S.: By the way, I don’t understand the issue of wall diffusion. How is it supposed to work if you cover the exterior wall with plaster?I was at a building surveyor last week and had both of my offers checked. He shared a lot of insider information and considered KMH to be "good."

That reassures me since my project is just about to start as well.Definitely have the building specifications, contracts, and general terms and conditions thoroughly reviewed (or have them reviewed by someone). Even though we approached different contractors, we found in all contracts that the companies are allowed to do everything, but the client is expected to do NOTHING!
“Turnkey” is, for example, not a clearly defined term. Insist on wording like this: “The offered price is a fixed lump sum that includes all services necessary for the construction of a fully functional and ready-to-occupy house.” That is legally binding—according to the expert’s statement.

This is legally binding – according to the expert’s statement. I can imagine cases where a specialist lawyer reviewing the construction scope of work might say that this would be a deterioration.
