Hello,
I wanted to ask if anyone else has experienced issues with the IKEA Storm floor lamp or knows someone who has noticed burn marks (discoloration) on their carpet caused by it. After a while, I realized that this lamp leaves round marks on the carpet. At first, I thought it was just a shadow, but when I moved the lamp, I saw these discolorations on my carpet. Unfortunately, I have two of these lamps, so the rings appear in two different rooms.
I have already reported this to customer service, but they don’t believe that the lamp caused this damage. I have pretty much everything in my home from IKEA, and I love IKEA. But something like this has never happened to me before. I’ve never had any problems. I have owned the lamps since early 2009, but before that, they were standing on laminate flooring with no issues. Last year I moved, and now I have carpet. I had to replace one of the lamp shades because it was broken. Interestingly, that lamp doesn’t cause any discoloration. So this clearly indicates a product defect.
I have contacted customer service again and asked for help. But maybe someone else has had the same experience. I am grateful for any advice and hope that IKEA will believe me and support me in this. It is a minor damage, but it was not caused by me or any other object.
Best regards,
Diana

IKEA-Experte30 Jan 2012 15:09You mean the light fixture is supposed to emit some kind of gas that then settles around it in a neat, sharp, concentric pattern? I don’t find that as obvious as you do. With fogging, you mainly get dark deposits at the top edges near the ceiling, which makes sense because of convection.
