Hello,

I have the following issue:
I want to integrate RWE Smart Home into my house, and I started with the thermostats. When they arrived, I realized that our radiators have rather unusual valve connections, and of course, there were no suitable adapters included with the RWE thermostats.

So, I took an original 40mm (1.6 inch) thermostat (Vaillant) along with the new one to the hardware store looking for an adapter. I was told they don’t stock anything like that, as modifications are not allowed to be made by customers themselves!

My question is: as a non-expert, what is the easiest way to install the new thermostats? Should I replace the valves, or are there adapters available after all?

Attached are 2 pictures of the valve and the thermostat.

Thank you very much in advance

In the picture, to me, it looks no different from the old valves I am familiar with. What exactly doesn’t fit?

This is what the new thermostat looks like, along with the following adapters.
However, in my opinion, none of them fit.

I had a similar-looking electric thermostat on my valves, and I also thought it wouldn’t work (it looked odd together), but it worked after a calibration run. I would guess it’s the large unit, but it’s hard to tell from the photo.

Hello

Without knowing the manufacturer of the TV base part, the thread is larger than with Heimeier and others, and therefore not compatible.

You will need new valve components.

I cannot comment on the valves, but what surprises me is the statement from the home improvement store employee that you are not allowed to work on your own heating system.

It makes you wonder why that is.
