Hello everyone,
In centralized ventilation systems, the ducts are often embedded directly into the concrete ceiling. I am interested in the durability and hygiene aspects of this approach.
What happens with deposits or buildup after, say, 50 years?
Are the cleaning methods effective and efficient?
Is it possible to install a "double piping" system, meaning embedding a larger duct into the ceiling and running a smaller one inside it, which could be replaced over time?
Thank you very much for your insights.
Best regards

Regarding cleaning: The fewer bends and branches there are, the easier it is to clean such a system. Pipes embedded in concrete have the advantage of being firmly fixed, so they can be cleaned well. But to be clear once again: I wouldn’t worry about hygiene or durability in this regard.

The cleaning will be carried out by regularly blowing air thoroughly through the pipes to remove any dust and dirt. If this is not sufficient, it is likely that within the next 20 years someone will have specialized in cleaning such pipes and will be able to do so for a very low cost.

There have certainly been specialists for years who clean such pipes for just a couple of Marks fifty.Well, those professionals already exist today, so you don’t have to wait forever...
