Hello everyone,

How are ceiling spots or similar fixtures installed in a wooden beam (intermediate) ceiling that has been insulated with blown-in insulation and is not suspended? It is necessary to prevent the insulation from falling through the hole made for the ceiling spots. Am I correct in assuming that the beams are covered on both the top and bottom with OSB boards, and then the blown-in insulation is placed between the beams? I am not referring to the top floor ceiling, but the ceiling between the ground floor and the first floor. The blown-in insulation is intended only to provide soundproofing. Thank you very much.

Blown-in insulation for soundproofing? I have my doubts about how effective that is.

For ceiling spotlights, you can use hollow boxes and run the cables through conduit pipes. That should be sufficiently airtight or can be made so.

How should the intermediate ceiling be constructed to achieve sound insulation?

A screed would be advisable.

Heavy; the denser the material, the better the sound insulation.

Yes, a screed will be installed. However, blown-in insulation is better than mineral wool because it is denser.
