I am curious to know which ceiling height you chose and why.

If applicable, also from the basement if you built one.

For cost reasons, we decided against increasing the ceiling height.

I also believe that rooms need a certain minimum floor area to have an impact. A room that is too small but tall quickly ends up feeling like an elevator shaft. Additionally, if you can’t afford something financially, it’s easier to downplay it. That way, life is easier. The classic example: small plot of land = otherwise too much garden work.

I didn’t even think about the possibility of higher ceilings… and now it’s the standard height. I don’t actually know how high it is here, just that I can stand in every room, so more than 183 cm (6 feet).

2.40 m (7 ft 10 in) is, I believe, the legal minimum ceiling height required for living spaces; nothing below that is allowed.

Depending on the federal state, 2.30 m (7 ft 7 in) may also be sufficient.

I’m not measuring that now. I don’t care. High enough is high enough.

The standard ceiling height nowadays is 250 cm (98 inches), with higher-end apartments from the developer ranging between 260 and 280 cm (102 and 110 inches).

I would not build again with a ceiling height under 260 cm (102 inches).
