I am curious to know which ceiling height you chose and why.
If applicable, also from the basement if you built one.

If you want to work with a suspended ceiling with recessed lightsFor recessed lights, 4 cm (1.5 inches) is sufficient. Paying a high extra cost just for that is not really worth it. See Alex85’s post for an alternative. That is all a matter of personal preference.
I find a 3-meter (10-foot) ceiling too high.
It then gives the impression of a mansion.
Here, I would always plan for a gallery or an open ceiling up to the ridge, if possible, to create a loft character...

For me, 3 meters (10 feet) is also too high. I find 2.60 to 2.70 meters (8 feet 6 inches to 8 feet 10 inches) still acceptable. We personally lean towards 2.60 meters (8 feet 6 inches). Right now, we have 2.50 meters (8 feet 2 inches) and actually find that height sufficient—although you can definitely notice the difference in spatial feeling compared to a neighboring house, which is "only" 2.40 meters (7 feet 10 inches) high.
Everyone has their own preference. I think the overall size of the room should be balanced: in that sense, the absolute ceiling height is just one of several factors.

At 3m (9.8 feet), the windows and doors should hopefully be adjusted; otherwise, it will look awkward.
On the ground floor, we have a finished height of 2.65m (8.7 feet) and on the upper floor, 2.50m (8.2 feet).
The basement with the granny flat also has a height of 2.50m (8.2 feet).
