Hello, we are planning to build this year.

We already know exactly what we want.
An L-shaped bungalow with a pitched roof and open ceilings in the living and dining area.

While looking for inspiration, I wanted to ask if anyone here has built something like this?

If so, I would really appreciate photos and feedback.
(Please also include photos of the rooms with the open ceilings.)

Thank you.

With open roof soffits and a 265 cm (104 inches) knee wall—you can also overdo it.

Exactly.
Basically, a higher ceiling or an open gable can quickly feel uncomfortable, especially if the room size does not increase accordingly. When the ceiling height exceeds the room width, the result is often the opposite of spaciousness—a disproportionate space that feels narrower and smaller, but with an atrium-like vertical impression.
An open ceiling also means there is no sense of overhead enclosure, which is one of the functions a room ceiling is supposed to provide.

Sounds understandable.

In reality, it felt completely different to me. Even the 13 sqm (140 sq ft) office seemed more spacious due to the different ceiling height.

It gives a distinctly different impression that makes you stop and think about where that impression comes from.

The area with the open ceiling was 47-50 sqm (505-538 sq ft).

Isn’t anyone else building a bungalow with an open gable here?

Who built this? It doesn’t look very professional....
What don’t you like about it?

What is the purpose of the overlapping battens on the roof window or skylight?

I was able to run the profile through and am now adjusting it to the windows during panel installation. This makes the work easier for me.
