Hello forum members,
this is my first post and I have a question right away: I bought a new sink and I can only sometimes manage to insert the plug so that the water doesn’t escape while washing. This is very frustrating and I wonder what I’m doing wrong. Is there a trick I don’t know yet?

If it is a rubber made of "soft" material, a tip from me: place it in boiling water. However, do not put it directly on the stove to boil!!! This will help it return to its original shape. If it has, let’s say, cracks or edges, it will be difficult to maintain a proper seal.

This is also my first post, but I hope I can share a small useful tip:
The stopper consists of two parts: the upper part made of metal and the lower part made of rubber. Both parts are held together in the middle by a hidden screw (or something similar). The small handle in the center top of the stopper can be turned and controls how tightly the lower rubber part is pulled against the upper metal part.
In my experience, the sink stopper works much better if the rubber part is not pulled all the way up but has a bit of play. So, just slightly loosen the screw.
Hope that helps!

Hmm, the questioner only wrote "I bought a sink" and "the plug," so there is little information about the type of sink and plug.
I think most people assumed it was a regular rubber plug without any metal parts or screw connections.
If that is the case, with the "problem plug," then this would actually be a good hint on how to adjust the tension of the rubber.
I wouldn’t have expected such a strange plug.
