I read that there is a subsidy from BAFA when installing a heating system using renewable energy. We are building an air-source heat pump and will first install 15 photovoltaic panels. Any additional electricity needed to operate the heat pump beyond that must be drawn from the public grid. Is this eligible for funding? Can one rely on the heating contractor to be familiar with these application procedures?

It’s best to check yourself. BAFA funds 35% of the eligible costs for an air-to-water heat pump. However, the system must be listed on their approved products. Visit the BAFA website and read the requirements carefully.

There are no subsidies for photovoltaic systems. Only the battery storage may receive grants at the regional (state) level.

Air-to-air heat pumps are eligible for subsidies but are more complicated than ground-source heat pumps.
Photovoltaic systems are not eligible for subsidies.
Heating installers tend to say no. Many sell their pumps as eligible for subsidies just to increase the price.
It’s better to research yourself.
The BAFA fact sheet provides all the information you need to know.

You repeated my post (above).

Well, I mentioned the air/water system.
Otherwise, you are, of course, right. xD

I have done some research. I could submit the application myself. The heat pump from the offer is eligible for funding. Where can I get the annual performance factor? I believe a heat demand calculation by the structural engineer is also required, right?
