Hello everyone,

I am currently exploring the topic of the IKEA Besta system and its potential for modular redesign. My question is: Are there modular conversion options for the IKEA Besta system that allow the furniture to be adapted flexibly and multifunctionally to different room layouts? I am especially interested in solutions that go beyond the traditional use as a low cabinet, for example, options that are mobile, reconfigurable, or technically expandable. Does anyone have experience, ideas, or can recommend conversion kits or modular add-ons? I look forward to the discussion!

More technically complex conversions, such as those with integrated electronics or smart functions, are usually DIY projects and rarely available as complete modules.

That’s true; such conversions are definitely a niche. However, I’m precisely interested in this kind of technical expandability combined with modularity and flexibility.

I’m thinking of systems where, for example, powered connectors between modules allow direct integration of lamps, speakers, or other electronic devices. Do you have any specific examples or experiences with such conversions or systems? Are there manufacturers or hobbyists who specialize in this?

I would appreciate any information on this particular type of modularity.
