Hello,

we are currently considering the possible monthly additional costs that will arise in our new home.

What would be the average expenses for a house with a granny flat, occupied by 5 people, with a gas condensing boiler plus solar heating system?

The area is approximately 200 m² (2,150 sq ft) spread over 2 floors.

Kind regards

Hello,

you can’t really say for sure because it very much depends on your personal habits. For me, the heating is usually turned off in March, at least during the day, since our house stays quite warm. But I think you should expect heating costs of around 100 euros.

Hi,

if you want to keep costs low, you need to pay attention to the temperature in each room. A bedroom should not exceed 17°C (63°F), while the living room should be around 20°C (68°F). It’s best to install a thermometer in every room.

Hello,

Do you need to heat a newly built house thoroughly first? To remove the moisture?

Best regards

Hello,

In the first year, you will have higher heating costs because all the moisture needs to dry out first. So, heat well and ventilate frequently; if you follow this advice, you will have nice, dry walls and no problems with mold or similar issues.

Hello everyone,

I’m new here and also new to the topic of building a home. 😉

My wife and I are planning to build a semi-detached house and would like to start thinking about the post-construction phase. For our planning, it’s naturally important to know approximately what ongoing costs to expect. Besides the loan, there are also running costs associated with the house.

We’ve heard that you can expect around 2 €/m² (plus 0.5 €/m² for maintenance and repairs). My question is: does this 2 €/m² cover ALL other costs, or do I need to calculate things like insurance on top of that? How realistic is this estimate?

The house will have a gas condensing boiler and solar thermal system for domestic hot water. Living and usable space: 200 m² (2153 square feet). I would assume normal usage behavior.

Thank you very much in advance!! 🙂

Regards,

Mark

One more addition: By ALL costs, I also mean telephone, contents insurance, liability insurance, and so on...
