Hello,

We want to transport and install 6 steps measuring 100 cm (40 inches) weighing 120 kg (265 lbs) each, and 6 steps measuring 150 cm (59 inches) weighing 190 kg (419 lbs) each, from the property boundary to the terrace (approximately 15 meters (49 feet) distance).

A landscaper will do this, whose equipment is rather average. However, that doesn’t matter because he has delivered good performance and quality.

The terrain is fairly level with some slight slopes in between.

My two concerns/questions:
1. Transporting the steps – what would you recommend?

2. The procedure for installation – individual work steps, materials, tools.
Are there any instructional videos available?

Thank you very much for your support!

So what is it now? Doing it yourself or hiring someone?
Otherwise: rent an excavator and pliers. For everything else, there are plenty of videos.

Hello,

yes, that is done by a former landscaping professional.
However, I have to take care of everything around it, and I don’t want to leave anything to chance.
I don’t mean to sound ungrateful, but for this kind of information, I don’t really need a forum.

Best regards

Hi uwe,

if you need to move 6 steps weighing 120kg (265 lbs) each and 6 more weighing 198kg (436 lbs) each over 15 meters (49 feet), take a 1.5-ton (1.5 US ton) excavator. That should be enough.
For the concrete, I would estimate about 90–100 bags of 30kg (66 lbs) each for all 12 steps.

Good luck!

Then ask other questions or provide other information => The work should be done by a professional, that was your statement.

The answer was excavator and clamp, wasn’t it clear? What else is needed?

I skipped that answer since a professional was supposed to do it. Otherwise, a) you’d need a list of questions (exactly what should be done, ground conditions, etc.). And afterwards a three- to four-page guide including materials.

Answer given. There are plenty online. Also on how to handle excavators and clamps (including setting the steps or a suitable foundation for the lowest step).

You’re welcome

You should clarify everything directly and precisely with the landscaper, regardless of what any forum might suggest. If he agreed to do it and is a professional, he will know the proper method.
If he proposes several options and leaves the choice up to you, then I would understand the question better.
