Hello,

We have a patio roof supported by aluminum posts (3mm thick aluminum, hollow inside).
We would like to stretch a steel cable between the posts to hang an outdoor curtain.

What would be the best way to attach a tension hook to the aluminum posts? Using hollow wall anchors with a metric thread and screwing the tension hook into that? Installing rivet nuts?
Thank you!

Then I would drill through the post and attach a nut from the outside; that way, you can also tighten it.

I would only tighten if there is a fixed connection between the two posts at the top.
Can you upload a photo? Otherwise, this will just be speculation.

I hope the attached image makes it clear enough. The posts are connected at the top by a crossbeam (the roof is made of laminated safety glass).

Hello, how far apart are your posts? From the picture, it seems like the span isn’t very large. I would suggest a clamp rod...

The distance is about 1.5 meters (5 feet) on one side and 4 meters (13 feet) on the other. Is a tension rod stable enough for that?

Unfortunately, I’m not sure if a tension rod is stable, since we can’t clamp one on our canopy because our posts are 5m (16 feet) apart. So far, we haven’t found a solution... hmm. However, I have seen a solution from Instagram users. Tension rods are available up to four meters (13 feet) and in all colors. Best regards, Jasmin
