Hello everyone, I bought a large double-leaf driveway gate second-hand, along with posts that are 1.80m (5 ft 11 in) tall. The gate itself has a total length of 4m (13 ft 1 in).
Now, I want to cover the unattractive green posts, which are 15x15cm (6x6 inches). I was thinking about using planting stones or concrete rings, stacking one stone on top of another all the way up, and cutting out space for the gate hinges in the top and bottom stones, or maybe pointing bricks around them.
What would be the best way to do this?

Thanks for your ideas and answers.

With the original posts, your gate opens more than 90 degrees. If you cover the posts as planned, the gate will no longer open fully. Therefore, you need new posts and new hinges for the gate.

Ok..
I understand, that's a pity. But what should I get—thinner posts or longer hinges? I was planning to set the stones very close to the posts, but I’m not sure how far the gate will open. If the gate wings open until they are vertical, that would work for me. They don’t need to open a full 90 degrees; just enough to be wide enough when the gate wings stand straight up, left and right, when you look at them.

Doesn't fit, make a top view drawing and you will see it.

Ok, all clear, that’s correct.
Man, what’s the best way to proceed now? It’s no problem, the posts can be removed...
But for the facing bricks, should I put up two posts now, one on the left and one on the right, and attach the hinges to the concrete? Or what’s the best approach? Because I see posts everywhere made of concrete or built up with stones...

Do it new or have it done. Anything else is shoddy work.
