Hello everyone,

I’m not sure if this is the right forum or if anyone here can help me.

Our wooden facade is about 4 years old.
Is this a normal aging process, or is something wrong?
I haven’t seen black spots like these on any other wooden facade before…

I look forward to your feedback and assessments!
Modern house: white base, wooden cladding above, pergola and garden; person sitting on bench.

What material is your wooden battens made of? And what treatment were they given 4 years ago? They look weathered.

The wood is silver fir and it was treated with a pre-weathering stain.

I’m just surprised that the facade has weathered so unevenly and with such blotchy discoloration.

The gable side appears to be the main weather-exposed side, while on the other side, the upper part of the wood cladding and thus the rain barrier is partially protected by the roof overhang. It really depends on the main angle at which the rain hits.

Thank you very much for your assessment!
Do you think it could also be blue stain fungus?
And will it eventually weather evenly, or will it stay patchy like this?

It just takes time, because not all areas are exposed to the weather to the same extent. That’s simply the nature of the matter.
