Has anyone here also applied for the KfW 442 solar power subsidy for electric cars?
When did it work?
Which number did you receive? Just the thousands digit of 442 000000XXXXXX is enough.

Did you receive a confirmation email? Yes/No
Did you get the confirmation in the KfW portal? Yes/No

The entire system must be used for at least 6 years, including an electric car (which, of course, can be replaced).

Now at 6:43 PM the confirmation has also arrived in the portal.

My 28XXX has turned into a 12XXX.

There were probably quite a few duplicate applications after all.

Why subsidies for the richest 20%? Every homeowner has the opportunity

You could say homeowners are the top 40%, and then among them, only those who can currently afford a new or nearly new car get support. So basically, the ones who are already well off benefit. Many here probably fall into that group. The question is whether that makes sense from a societal perspective.

Solar panels pay off anyway, battery storage is pretty much a zero-sum game depending on usage, but electric vehicles are expensive. Shouldn’t electric cars be subsidized more? That would still limit support to people who can afford a new car, but it would no longer restrict it to homeowners, so twice as many people would generally have access.

Or you just give the wealthy, who acted quickly enough on that one day, €10,000 and hope the vote stays with the FDP.

That’s what it boils down to from society’s point of view.

It’s a common misconception to think that owning a home automatically puts you in the top 40%. Quite a few homeowners are retirees living in buildings that are, at best, comparable to houses from the late 1990s. So, more or less rundown. The bigger question is what happens when a 35-year-old gas boiler breaks down, rather than buying an ID.4 starting at a list price of 45,000 EUR (about $49,000).

And anyone who has built in the last 2 or 3 years, considering all the price increases… I don’t think an electric new car is at the top of many people’s priority lists.

It remains as it is. This was and is a subsidy for people who don’t really need it. It would have been better to use those 300 million EUR (about $326 million) for a lottery or competition to energetically renovate 3,000 houses at 100,000 EUR (about $109,000) each. That would reduce CO2 emissions more effectively than an electric car.

Top 40 of what? Income or wealth? Retirees who own their home are also likely to have above-average income for retirees. Of course, this cannot be compared to someone in their late 50s at the peak of their career, just as it does not make sense to compare that person in their late 50s with a student or someone just starting their career.
