Would you do it again?

You often read about the pros and cons of a gallery.

I’m considering building a gallery above the dining and/or living area (e.g., a dining bay).

Who has experience with this? Who would build like this again?

Looking forward to your opinions.

Regards

Oh, come on!

No one here with a gallery?!
I don’t believe that.

Tell me: you expect an answer within 4 hours in such nice weather? Don’t be impatient now!

We have a mezzanine, my parents have a mezzanine (that’s how I grew up), and I would build again with a mezzanine and an open living area upstairs.

That said, we don’t have children. If one of us is watching TV downstairs while the other is in the sleeping area, you can hear the TV sound from below on the mezzanine!

You have to know what you want!!!

I would never even dream of building a bay window.

We have a gallery space between the living and dining areas, but we are not yet living in the house.
I also considered airborne sound insulation, but in the end, we valued the aesthetics more than the quietness. We'll see how I feel about it once a teenager is living in the house.

Good morning,

But 4 hours is not correct.

Of course, it’s extreme if you can still hear the TV at normal volume upstairs in the bedroom.

But if I understood correctly, you have the mezzanine above the TV/living area, right?

It should be better for sound insulation if the mezzanine is only above the dining area.

Why no bay window?

Best regards

Hi,

Great, it would be fantastic if you could share your experience sometime after moving in (once the stress has eased a bit).

When is the move-in planned?

Wishing you continued success with the construction.

Best regards
