ᐅ Adopting a Floor Plan from Old Construction Drawings?

Hello everyone,

We have a townhouse and would like to recreate the individual floor plans (4 levels, including the basement) using software. Once we have the floor plans, we also want to place some furniture pieces within the same software.

As a starting point, we have all the construction drawings, including sections, in printed form.

Is it difficult to redraw the floor plans ourselves (for example, can a JPG file of the floor plan be imported into the software)? I saw online that there is a provider who digitizes floor plans and then provides a DWG file. Would I be able to use that DWG file afterwards, meaning could I use it to arrange furniture in a home design tool?

Since you’re asking like that, you probably can’t work with external files. Use Homebyme, set the EH floor plan as the background, and get started.

I was just able to "draw" the ground floor without any major problems ;-)

If you already live in the house, you can measure all the dimensions yourself; there are differences between the plans and the actual house. A construction company typically works with a precision of only 0 to 10cm (0 to 4 inches).
The furniture should fit inside the house, not just on the drawings.
When the client said back then that the door needed to be moved 20cm (8 inches) to the left, the plans were not updated afterward.
