ᐅ Ideal Standard Connect / Rimless Toilet Alternative?

Good evening!

In our previous house, we had the toilet model "Ideal Standard Connect," specifically the rimless version. Visually, I really liked this model. However, we sometimes had the issue that it splashed water during flushing. So, you had to carefully close the lid before flushing, otherwise water would occasionally spray onto the floor. It wasn’t a major problem, but now I’m wondering whether we should choose the same toilet for the new house or look for a different one.

Is this issue specific to the model we chose, or do all rimless toilets have this problem? Do you have any recommendations for alternative models?

Exactly, I always think the same.

And then the toilet water always splashes nicely onto the seat. That’s disgusting.
Or is that the built-in bidet function?

Well, usually fresh water comes from the cistern. We actually never had a dirty lid because of that.
But we also had the advantage of "regular cleaning." :P

However, I’m still not satisfied with my decision. Maybe we’ll try a rimless toilet from a different manufacturer.
I’ve read about this issue quite a bit in relation to rimless toilets in general.

I've spent way too much time thinking about toilets 😉

There are definitely rimless ones that aren’t completely rimless but have a tiny little edge at the top to prevent splashing.

We installed one toilet so far. It’s actually a simple shower toilet (without a dryer, music, heated seat, or anything like that), the Tece One. It is rimless and nothing splashes out. The other one isn’t installed yet and is currently sitting in the kitchen because the ground floor was just tiled 😉

There is also the toilet we had with "AquaBlade" technology. Has anyone installed something like this? Does it really make sense or is it just marketing hype?

Hi Kati,

Yes, we also installed the Ideal Standard Connect, specifically the "Connect Air" model with AquaBlade. We are very satisfied and don’t see any fundamental issues. Occasionally, a few drops might splash up, but overall I don’t consider it a problem.

In terms of price-performance and appearance, I found the models excellent compared to similar ones, and we are satisfied with AquaBlade as well, although I can’t definitively say it provides a clear advantage. I just took the coating as a nice extra since the price difference was minimal. As far as I know, it will eventually wear off, but after a year, everything is fine. Only the original toilet seat is disappointing. It looks nice, but you shouldn’t sit on it firmly 🙂

The main advantage I see is the built-in Geberit drawer for cleaning tablets. If you are not familiar with this, I can definitely recommend it.

Thank you!
It’s always great to have a forum like this, especially when someone with hands-on experience on exactly the topic we’re looking for shows up. 🙂
I’m also considering giving the toilet with the Aquablade another chance. In our previous house, we didn’t have the issue with splashing every day either. It was only a bit annoying. But the toilet looks really great.

Hands-on in connection with toilets creates strange images in my head.
Maybe it should be called Bottom-On Experience instead...
