ᐅ Dents in Concrete Slab – What Is Acceptable?

Hello everyone,

As mentioned in the title, I have some imperfections such as dents and waves in the concrete slab of my new build. As a layperson, I’m wondering if this is still within an acceptable range and will be evened out later by the screed or other layers, or if I should raise concerns about these spots. The second and third photos show the same area from different angles.

I would really appreciate the opinion of experienced eyes here! What do you think?

Many thanks in advance for your feedback!

That looks like wrinkles in a tarp. Are you sure that you’re directly on the concrete slab? Or was it covered, causing folds to appear in the concrete?

The concrete slab was covered with a tarp for protection after pouring. I was also wondering if the wrinkles are caused by that.

Is it already paid for? The windows are already installed…
Have you swept it? I mean, can you see it “clean” in the photos?

It is paid for, yes. But the final inspection date for the entire shell is still pending. The windows are not installed yet—that’s misleading. As I said, it’s still right in the middle of the shell construction. I haven’t swept it, no; I just happened to visit the site spontaneously. Unfortunately, I can’t be there regularly, as I currently live far away; otherwise, I could provide new photos right away.

We also had some uneven spots because the protective film was weighted down in certain areas after the wind picked up. During the inspection, the building expert pointed this out and recommended that it be repaired to create a flat surface for the subsequent work. In our case, though, it was only a few small areas and nowhere near as severe as it appears in your photos.

The wrinkles naturally come from the construction foil, which is of course important and absolutely correct.

On top of that will be the waterproofing, insulation, and impact sound insulation, followed by the screed. Therefore, the unevenness does not have a significant impact. However, I would insist on the DIN standard and, if necessary, filling before installing the waterproofing membranes.

I also don’t see this as a major issue. I doubt that patching here would bring any real improvement. You would need to measure the height differences in centimeters (inches) to compare them to the total thickness. But I believe this is negligible.
