Hello everyone,

I’m not sure if this is the right place to post, but I’ll go ahead with my question:
The masonry of our ground floor was completed this week. Today, we inspected the shell of the building and noticed a few small cracks in the interior wall bricks (see photo).

Since I’m not familiar with this at all, my question is:
Is this normal, or could it cause problems?

Best regards,
Michaela

Hello Michaela,

... now my question:
What is the blue material between the rows of bricks?

Kind regards

Hmm, it does look kind of blue in the photo. But it is actually gray and just regular mortar.

If you say so...

You don’t need to worry about the crack in the hollow brick; this can happen with hollow bricks since these blocks are somewhat sensitive during installation. If the crack goes all the way through the brick, which I can’t tell from the photo, the mason will fill it later. Otherwise, interior plaster as well as exterior insulation and plaster are sufficient.

Kind regards

Hello,

Thank you for your reply! That reassures me

Another question: Is an independent inspector absolutely necessary or advisable for the structural frame inspection?
And if so, how quickly can one still be hired? Our structural frame will now be finished much earlier than planned, so we haven't been able to arrange this yet.

Best regards,

Michaela

Who is supposed to carry out the final inspection?
