The standard one can sometimes leave unpleasant stains on the surface. Thanks again for the tip. Does it still bleed through up to 2cm (1 inch) from the bottom? (I was even considering whether to use lime-cement mortar because I expect there will be a lot applied)M

However, you can apply a layer of mortar or render at the bottom, then fill it with natural stone adhesive and spacer pads. I’m not sure if this is technically correct, but it works.
Great, thanks.
I was actually planning to order the window sills from the stonemason today. I wanted to look up examples of window sills with an overhang to get some ideas. Unfortunately, I came across the Helopal Linea with a shadow gap, which looks quite nice and is making my decision harder.
With standard window sills that have an overhang, you might consider re-plastering certain walls or doing similar repairs after 5-10 years. This wouldn’t be possible with flush-mounted window sills.
