ᐅ When is the best time to connect utility services to the house?

Our house (a prefabricated timber frame construction) will, as you know, be assembled next week. In your opinion, when would be the best time to bring the utility lines into the house without damaging walls or tiled floors? We have a utility shaft; electricity, gas, water, sewage, and media lines are already on the property.

I thought it should be done right after the house is assembled (i.e., the shell), but my husband believes it should be done once the interior is fully finished.

We would like to do that too, but I find it a bit too voyeuristic and intrusive. ;-) I was actually planning to stay discreetly within sight and watch from there, so to speak incognito.

Why shouldn’t the client watch directly? After all, you are the client and paying for the whole thing.

I can only comment on the interior once more of it is completed.
I won’t share a photo here now to avoid your thread possibly being accidentally hijacked.

Then I’ll reply to you in your most recent thread:

At least I’m satisfied with the external design of our house, except for the already recognized mistakes (roof pitch too low) and too few, too wide windows instead of more, narrower, and taller windows (that wasn’t possible with my husband ;-) ).

I don’t see a mistake with a too shallow roof pitch in https://www.hausbau-forum.de/threads/haus-bilderthread-zeigt-her-eure-hausbilder.14011/page-1405#post-565756.

I had hoped that when I stand in front of the house or approach it, I would see more of the roof. In the end, it’s a matter of personal taste, but I’m happy with it. :-)

Then build a scale model of the house again—like a mailbox or a birdhouse: with this different relationship between the eaves height and your eye level, your wish can be fulfilled. The phenomenon where the roof pitch appears flatter in reality than it does in the plans is simply due to the size proportions "person vs. house" being different from "person vs. photo of the house." This corrects itself—for example, by using such a miniature replica.

That will settle down again – for example, with the help of such a miniature model.
@Pinkiponk just needs to surround themselves with some bad karma, and then it will work even at ant-size or similar 😉
