Since my lawn has become very uneven and the area near the forest at the back is quite muddy, I want to topdress the lawn with sand and level it.
My plan is to spread about 10 liters of sand per square meter, smooth it with a lawn rake, overseed, roll it, cover with topsoil, rake again, and finish.
My building materials supplier offers the following types of sand (I don’t want to buy lawn sand from the hardware store because of the price and the fact that I will need about 3 tons due to the area):
- Washed silver sand (play sand)
- Rhine sand 0/2
- Concrete sand 0/2
Which one is most suitable?

Thanks also for the tip about the drainage. We actually installed drainage pipes because the ground is extremely clayey and rocky. Naturally, they shouldn’t get clogged. I wasn’t referring to the drainage pipes. Sand simply has a water-draining effect (called drainage). This improves the more it avoids clumping and the more space there is between the grains.
