Hello everyone,

We are in the process of replacing our windows and have now collected several quotes. It concerns 23 windows plus a front door, all triple-glazed. On the ground floor, there will be external venetian blinds and insect screens, and on the upper floor, roller shutters plus insect screens.

The scope of work is almost the same in all requests, and the suppliers/contractors do not differ much. Therefore, in the end, the deciding factor will be price/performance.

We did not have any special requirements regarding security.
I understand that the window profile manufacturer is only part of the overall quality. Ultimately, the hardware, installation method (use of compression tape), etc., also play a role.

To take the first step, we have now received the following offers, which I have summarized in the attachment, along with an example window for each (except number 5, as it has few details).

Do you see any favorites or any less favorable details?

Fensterprofil-Details: VEKA Softline 82 MD, Mitteldichtung

Technische Zeichnung: Doppelflügeliges Dreh-Kipp-Fenster, 1600 x 1175 mm, mit Insektenschutz.

VEKA V82 Kunststoff-Fenster, 82 mm Bautiefe, Wärmeschutzglas, Farbe innen weiß, außen anthrazit.

If foam = poor workmanship... then what wouldn’t be poor workmanship?
Installation according to RAL standards. With window connection tapes and/or compressible sealing tapes. Airtightness and resistance to driving rain are also important points.

Yes, but in the end, these are just general points. The truth is undeniable: to my knowledge of the industry, a window manufacturer is best recognized by non-experts through customers who consistently report no complaints (or only minimal ones that were promptly and professionally resolved).

Okay, thanks for the information.
I think this has prepared me well.

One supplier once sent me example pictures of the installation with an exterior roller shutter, side extensions, compressible tape, and mounting foam.
Any concerns?

Weru uses Rehau profiles. These are produced in Srem (Poland) after Weru requested lower prices. Previously, they were made in Triptis, right next to Weru's location. Now, Rehau produces pipes for underfloor heating there.

Wasn't Gealan taken over by Veka? They manufacture practically in the neighboring town to Rehau’s headquarters. 😎

Is Rehau based in Tanna, Vilnius, Rzgów, and Bucharest at the same time? 😉
But yes, it belongs to Veka.

You are confusing that with Gealan/Veka. Gealan, among other locations, has production in Oberkotzau. After the takeover by Veka, if I remember correctly, some production was shifted to Veka sites and the Gealan headquarters focused more on development.

Oberkotzau is in the Hof district, just like the town of Rehau, where the company Rehau AG & Co is headquartered. However, no window profiles are manufactured in Rehau. There, products for industry (edge bands, magnetic seals) and the automotive sector are produced. Additionally, the main administration and research/development are based there.
Rehau develops their own profiles, including the associated production technology. Either for small window manufacturers (e.g., Synego) or as OEM for major companies (e.g., Weru).

As production locations for window profiles, I personally know only Wittmund (DE), Srem (PL), Gschel (Russia), Blaenau (GB), Poix (FR).

But there are many other locations worldwide as well. Some of these also produce window profiles, usually variants tailored to the respective window construction type.
