Hello,
I am considering adding sound insulation to my attic using stone wool. Currently, my attic consists of mineral wool, a vapor barrier, and drywall. Would it be possible to lay a layer of stone wool on top of the existing mineral wool and then screw wooden boards over it to make the whole structure more compact? Would this be effective? Pictures are attached.

What requirements should the sound insulation meet? Should a band play upstairs and you hear nothing below, or is it only about a certain reduction of impact noise?

Hello, the goal is to reduce some outdoor noise.

What kinds of external noises are there? Environmental noise or airplanes?

In the end, it really comes down to two decisions.

Do I get professional help to measure the noise disturbances and a report on how to fix them, or do you carry wood, insulation, drywall, or whatever up there and screw it to the floor, hoping it will feel somewhat quieter...?

A mix of both. Airplane noise, but less so.

See above. I just edited my post as you replied... Sound can be tricky... it could also be that the measurement shows the sound being transmitted through the facade, not through the roof.
