Our newly installed refrigerator is humming. Is this still normal nowadays, or am I too sensitive? Our kitchen is part of a large open-plan space that includes the dining and living areas. I can even hear the refrigerator when I’m in the living area. What can I do? Could it be because of the large open space? My 25-year-old refrigerator in the old apartment didn’t make any noise.

Vicky Pedia14 Apr 2020 20:40A similar problem occurred with my girlfriend. The issue was the compressor (essentially a rotating part) making contact with the housing somewhere. At least in our case, a slight adjustment or twisting of the refrigerator (very minimal) helped. Try adjusting the leveling feet up or down. Otherwise, it’s clearly the responsibility of the retailer. They are the ones who should handle it.
@ypg a different design and an expensive brand name. Almost all refrigerators nowadays come from a single manufacturer.
We will also have a few appliances from Gaggenau. The built-in refrigerator not included since design does not matter there.
Same issue with the dishwasher. Basically only one manufacturer left...
