OnTheRocks12 Feb 2020 11:39Dear community,
I am new here and currently looking into the topic of prefabricated houses versus solid construction. Strangely, I couldn’t find any surveys or similar information online. I’m simply interested to know whether you would choose to build a prefabricated house again later on, or if you would prefer a solid-built home instead. I believe many future homeowners ask themselves this question.
Looking forward to your feedback

Matthew0312 Feb 2020 11:43I think the question doesn’t make much sense. What insight are you hoping to gain?
All the advantages and disadvantages of this topic have been discussed multiple times. Hardly any homeowner who has chosen underfloor heating would jeopardize what is probably the most expensive purchase of their life. The few exceptions surely have such individual reasons that the survey wouldn’t provide any added value.
So what do you really want to know?

OnTheRocks12 Feb 2020 11:46I understand that many individual factors come into play. For now, I just want to get an overall idea or a general trend. If out of 100 homeowners, 99 respond with yes, that certainly means something. I am also aware that you always have to pay close attention to your individual situation.

OnTheRocks12 Feb 2020 11:53So if someone can’t admit that next time they would prefer to build with solid construction because anything else somehow spoils their life in the here and now, that’s also fine. They probably won’t even vote before lying to themselves?
Anyway. I’m curious. Maybe that’s reason enough.

Assuming 99 out of 100 homeowners here answer yes,I estimate that about 5 homeowners who currently live in a prefabricated house are still active here. If these 5 participate in the survey now, it doesn’t say much because the other 100, who were active here over the last 3 years during the construction phase, have left the forum.

Anyone who builds a prefabricated house does so out of conviction. An objective comparison is missing anyway, because many moved from a traditional masonry house built before the energy-saving regulations. It’s like comparing apples and oranges.
