Hello everyone,
I’m not planning to build a house anytime soon (maybe in about 5 years), but I’m generally interested in the topic, actively reading up on it, and looking at many floor plans and so on.
The quality of floor plans available online varies a lot. I’m curious which floor plan(s) for a single-family home you find particularly good (for example, because you live in it and it has proven successful, or simply because you are in the process of building and find it convincing on paper) and what you like about it.

Best regards,
kejo84

(Additional question: Does anyone know where to find similar examples online? For instance, floor plans that have received awards or recognition, etc.)

I believe most homeowners prefer their own floor plan, which is why they designed it that way. This means many floor plans are already available online because there is a thread about it, while others understandably choose not to share theirs publicly...

and I mainly read here about the criticisms of the presented floor plans. Therefore, I would have been interested in positive examples as well.
If someone is looking for "likes," they are better off on the site with the small blue "f." Personally, I find it more useful in design critiques to point out areas that need improvement. But even I do not hesitate to provide positive examples: my posts regularly include small collections of links to discussions where a similar situation has already been addressed and has usually received several good suggestions (often also in drawn form). I also regularly link to the post showing the final outcome of the discussion.

By the way, I recommend starting your floor plan search after you have found the plot: the vast majority of floor plans available on the internet are best suited (or sometimes almost exclusively suited) for flat plots located in prime locations—exactly the type of plot that is becoming increasingly scarce on the market.

Although this might sound nice at first, this thread doesn’t make sense. There is no single best or most beautiful floor plan. Otherwise, I could just say “Neuschwanstein Castle.” Hopefully, that quickly shows how pointless the question is.

A floor plan can never be assessed independently of the country and building regulations (building permit / planning permission). Size, requirements, number of residents – there are countless criteria that make every house unique. Only once the basics are known can one say whether a house is truly well designed.

One could skip the philosophical debates and simply share floor plans that are considered successful (in harmony with the plot). Maybe add a few words explaining why, and that’s it.

I personally find our floor plan successful. It is very clearly structured, without unnecessary details. At the time of planning, we anticipated the neighboring buildings, which did not yet exist and were unknown, and oriented our building accordingly. That turned out well. But unfortunately, it’s private.

At least I’m willing to contribute something to the topic, Kaho.
I don’t comment on topics that don’t interest me.
