ᐅ Where is the best place to buy designer lighting? Does anyone have any experience?

Good evening everyone.

I'm back, well-rested from our summer vacation. The weather was great, the food was great, and the hotel was great.
In a restaurant, I noticed a really stylish lamp on the wall. Even my wife was convinced by it, which says a lot. We would also like to get a designer lamp like that, preferably for the dining room.
Does anyone have experience with any kind of designer lighting? Where could you buy something like that, and where would you place a lamp like this at home? It should, of course, be a bit of an eye-catcher.

Looking forward to your responses.

Are you now looking for the exact same lamp as in your hotel, or are you just seeking inspiration for a designer light fixture?
If you want the exact lamp from the hotel, I would suggest asking an employee or at least taking a photo of it, which you could then use to inquire here or elsewhere.
If you’re looking for inspiration, check out some design magazines or architecture magazines. Otherwise, trade shows might also come to mind, as you could potentially find something there.
Google is also your friend, though it can be difficult to search for something when you don’t really know what you’re looking for.

kaho674, unfortunately no, it was completely full and I felt a bit uncomfortable taking photos right in the middle of the crowd. Thanks anyway for the tip!

ypg and hampshire, thanks for the suggestions. I’ll check them out right away.

guckuck2, yes, we are also considering the dining room…I believe that’s where it will have the best effect. I think it would be a bit of a waste for the staircase. As I mentioned, unfortunately I don’t have a photo. It was a pendant lamp, and in the same style there were several floor lamps distributed throughout the restaurant. It really made an impression…You can do a lot with lighting in general.

Pakon, well, depending on the style of the lamp. But in general, I would appreciate some inspiration…maybe I’ll find something I like even better. I’ve already browsed magazines (at least online). But thanks for the tip about trade fairs. I could definitely take a look. Do you mean design trade fairs, interior design trade fairs, or where would be the best place to look?

What kind of lamps do you generally prefer? Just to get some inspiration...

So if you want exactly those lamps from the restaurant, I would just call or send an email. They are usually very friendly and basically do everything, so you will probably be able to quickly read the brand on the fixture and get that information from them. Just avoid calling during busy hours, as they probably have a lot of other inquiries to handle then.

I didn’t have a specific trade fair in mind, but basically any inspiration can help you. If it was a small trendy restaurant, it’s quite possible they work with local artists or companies from the area. If it was a large restaurant chain or quick-service restaurant, then it’s more likely a big company that can handle high demand. Maybe you can also find information on their website.

Personally, I think everything needs to fit together. I don’t like things to be too playful and actually prefer clean lines.

No, they shouldn’t be exactly the same. It was the whole atmosphere that fascinated and appealed to us. We will probably find it difficult to copy that, and we don’t want to anyway. Instead, we prefer to create something of our own. It should reflect our style, and we want to give it a special touch. Besides, it also has to work with the existing furnishings. That’s why something simple would probably be the best choice. It should also be somewhat innovative, allowing for creative lighting effects—you can’t just turn the switch on and off like anyone else. I’m just not sure where to find such lighting fixtures. In any case, I’ll keep browsing through some design and style magazines to find beautiful lamps. Maybe something nice will come up.

Going there and pointing the camera towards the ceiling has always worked for me so far... I have many photos of lighting fixtures from restaurants and hotels saved on my phone.

But you should definitely distinguish between hotel lighting and what you want at home.

In every larger city, there is usually a large lighting store with a wide range on display, including various design styles. You can check out places like that. Since your profile doesn’t specify your location, it’s hard to offer more specific advice.

That’s kind of unusual—you realize that, right? On my phone, I mostly have photos of family, friends, and the garden.
