Hello,
we are building a prefabricated house and would like to install a level-access shower tray in the bathroom measuring 100 x 80 cm (39 x 31 inches), flush with the adjacent floor tiles, meaning without any edge.

Our architect said this is not possible and suggested a fully tiled level shower instead. However, I would prefer the look of the shower tray. Does anyone have experience with whether this is really not feasible? Or does anyone know roughly how this can be planned so I can show it to our architect?

I have already found a shower tray similar to what we want, see the link. Just for better understanding.

The image of the shower tray can be uploaded via the software. Thanks

Many thanks.

@ Meercob: You understood the point of my question, thank you.

@Bauexperte: I don’t think I need to answer your question.

You don’t have to answer at all; if you want a practical response, in my opinion you should reconsider your statement above. 🙂

Because I assume that people here know what a prefabricated house is, also called a modular home. We are building with timber frame construction.

Looking forward to your practical response ;-)

Well, I have been doing this job for several years, and until now, I didn’t know what a "prefab house" is 😀

First, I need to know how the floor structure of your prefab house is designed.

You are contradicting the purpose of an online forum, where people ask exactly these kinds of questions and hope to benefit from practical experience..

What use are practical experiences for a question like this? It works for some, but not for others. However, the architect responsible for the design knows the floor structure and should therefore be able to provide an answer.

That’s probably the point. His architect in charge of planning likely believes it’s not possible at all. When someone says, “Yes, I did it that way,” it already helps. Then he can ask for reasons why it wouldn’t work in his case.
