Hello,

we have now received a quote from our general contractor for a mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery: it is the Vaillant recoVair 260, which the contractor installs as standard.
Only the ground floor is quoted at €9,500, ground floor plus upper floor at €12,500 (€12,500).

Of course, we would choose the ground floor plus upper floor option.
Is €12,500 (€12,500) a reasonable price for the unit?
Our living area is about 155 m² (1,668 sq ft).
Thanks in advance!

Take a look around the forum; there have been several recent threads discussing this topic, for example.

We are at 230 m² (2,476 sq ft) with a Zehnder Q450 costing 14,400 EUR. Considering the general contractor’s mixed calculation and markups, yours doesn’t seem cheap but also not unreasonable.

The price is normal. However, the system is too small, or right at the limit, so it always has to run at full capacity. This is noisy and consumes a lot of electricity. In addition, a version with an "E," meaning an enthalpy exchanger, should definitely be installed.

I see it similarly. Not very cheap, but not very expensive either—somewhere in the middle. For a general contractor price, it seems reasonable to me.

Regarding sizing: Going one size larger wouldn’t hurt (~360), so the system can run more efficiently and especially quieter, with usually a very manageable additional cost.

Hello,

the system sizing is based on the ventilation concept.
For example, we have a somewhat larger house with 163 sqm (1755 sq ft) of living space and a unit from Stiebel Eltron with a capacity of 60–250 m³/h (35–147 CFM). According to calculations, we need 158 m³/h (93 CFM).

Therefore, I would estimate that the recovair 260 will easily cover your needs based on the indicated house size. I would also recommend installing an enthalpy heat exchanger.

This is already your second thread going in the same direction!

The next one will probably be something like "Is the quote for laying large-format tiles justified?"

What’s going on with you right now? Are you in a mood for patterning?
I hope the prices don’t surprise you, because now that you’ve signed, your general contractor can charge almost anything.
