ᐅ Floor vents (fresh air supply) located under sofas and desks?

Hello,

we currently need to decide whether to have floor outlets or wall outlets for our mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery.

According to our installer, it doesn’t matter if a piece of furniture (sofa, desk, etc.) is positioned over the outlet, as long as there is some clearance underneath, for example by the legs. So the sofa just shouldn’t completely cover the outlet.

Is this really the case? Would a sofa approximately 10cm (4 inches) above the floor, positioned over the outlet, not affect the airflow?

Yeah, you can see it from the slightly raised hairs and the facial expression.

The PLUGGIT cover looks good, but somehow it also reminds me of a shower drain.

Very stylish... cat and Pluggit floor outlet^^
From a physical standpoint, I find the floor outlet quite sensible. After all, with heat recovery ventilation, warm air comes out of the system and naturally rises. If the outlet is located high on the wall, the fresh air will initially only be up there.

Could you possibly take a photo with the cover grille removed? The reason is that I have various manufacturing options (e.g., CNC milling machine) and I’m considering whether I could make some personalized or simply better-designed covers myself...
Is it possible to purchase the outlets without cover grilles?

Yes, the lower parts are simply shaped components made of metal or polypropylene (PP).

The choice of grille on top is usually a matter of personal preference.

A picture without a grille doesn’t show much; it only reveals a metal box.

Here are some variations:

Metal rectangular cable duct with two round outlet openings at the bottom

Open grey metal distribution box with interior panel and two lower cable entries.

You can also get it in a round shape if the rectangular ones don’t appeal to you.

Round metal device: spiral top and perforated base shell, connected by a rod.

Of the options shown here, I personally only like the flush floor version. All the others would bother me, at least if they are in a prominent location.

They are all flush with the floor.
